Indigenous Delegates on the plan

Indigenous delegates on the plane after an exciting, hard working week, all looking a bit tired. But all in good spirits after a very productive week. Most delegates are now on way home, a long haul. We are lucky enough to be only going to Oslo today for 5 days of relaxing and sightseeing.

Australian Delegates lead the way at Conference on Indigenous Peoples Global Preparatory Meeting

National Congress of Australia's First Peoples Co-Chair Les Malezer has been appointed as Pacific Bureau Member, and has been elected as Co-Chair of the Conference along with Asia Region Delegate Vicki Tauli-Corpus. Mr Malezer's years of experience in international advocacy for Indigenous Peoples is well regarded amongst the international Indigenous Peoples movement.

There are twelve Delegates from Australia at the meeting, and a number of them hold leadership positions.

Brian Wyatt, the CEO of the National Native Title Council and Co-Chair of the Indigenous Peoples Organisation (IPO) Network was elected Co-Chair of the Pacific Caucus, along with Catherine Davis from Aotearoa (New Zealand).

IPO Co-Chair Dea Delaney was appointed as Bureau Member for the Global Women's Caucus and emerging leader Peter Dawson was elected as Co-Chair of the Youth Caucus.

Special Rapporteur on Indigenous Rights

Got a chance to have a quick yarn and style up for a photo with Prof. James Anaya who is currently the Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. This trip has certainly had quite a few first for
me.

Steep learning curve as a first time observer to the Global Indigenous Preparatory Conference. A day of new learnings, Pacific Region Caucus meetings and the processes of reporting and drafting. An exciting opportunity.
